young refugees

There is a significant number of young refugees and asylum seekers in Oxfordshire, some of whom came to the UK with their families - and around 150 who came alone.

We can help them get the support to which they are entitled, and also facilitate contact with other young people in the community.

Asylum Welcome helps in several ways. Our youth worker and volunteers run a series of after-school clubs and activities for young asylum seekers.

During the vacations, holidays and other activities are set up. Contacts are maintained with schools in order to share best practice and deal with the needs of individuals. Turning 18 can have significant consequences for young people, so we try to prepare and advise them accordingly.

Young refugees wishing to meet up with others can contact Lauren, our youth worker, at the office on 01865 722082 or by e-mail to youthworker@asylum-welcome.supanet.com.

Schools wanting to discuss refugee issues should also contact Lauren at the office.

Volunteers who'd like to help work with young refugees should contact the Volunteer Coordinator on 01865 722082 or e-mail volunteer@asylum-welcome.supanet.com.
