Girls reading under a tree

by Behar

"You can’t see them here but in fact there are four girls in this photo! If you look carefully you can see the feet behind. In fact it was the two Chinese girls behind we saw first and took their photo and then we came round the tree and saw these girls. I like the way they both have their legs the same and their heads at the same angle and their hair blowing."
"I am 16. I come from Mitrovica in Kosovo. I came because of the war. I have no family. I have been here for six months. I came on a boat to Dover with my best friend who was 14. His mother was Bosnian and his father Albanian. But somehow at Dover I lost him. I never saw him again. I came to Oxford and now I am living with a Kosovan family in Blackbird Leys. I am learning English and I play football, pool and talk to my friends.
I liked taking the photographs. I like green spaces – better than people! I liked seeing places like the Botanic Gardens for the first time. I am very pleased with my photographs."
